Zincs or No Zincs?
The Seloc Yanmar Repair Manual shows the zinc locations as 2 on the engine block and 1 on the cylinder head.
I was told by a Yanmar Parts guy that the 3GM30F does not have (or need) zincs because it is fresh water cooled. Also, I noticed on http://www.bluewatershipsstore.com/E...nmarparts.aspx that there is no part number for the zincs on the 3GM30F model.
It seems logical that there would be zincs as raw water does come into contact with metal as it flows through the system.
Before I crank off the bolts to inspect for myself, could anyone offer the answer? Many thanks.

Yanmar repair manuals can be hard to follow. The original factory manuals covered the 3GM30F and the 3GM30 on the same pages. The salt water version 3GM30 uses zincs. The 3GM30F fresh water version uses no zincs. The engine is constructed so that salt water does not touch two dissimilar metals simultaneously to form an electrolysis situation.

I have a Yanmar 2JH3E on my 2003 Hunter 386 that is sailed in salt water. I have not found any zincs. Does anybody know if there are any on the 3JH3E?

sounds like an inadvertent typo - which engine designation is it?

Presuming 3JH3, no zincs

I would guess that the engine in the Hunter 386 is a 3JH2E, but a very late model may have a 3JH3E. In either case, neither engine has zincs in the motor. The only Yanmar GM that has zincs are salt water cooled only with no fresh water heat exchanger. The JH series engines used in Hunter have no zincs as all of them have heat exchangers on the motor.
