having a devil of a time solving for a low speed and idle stall on yanmar 18hp. Have done all the low pressure side and insured no air leaks. Looked at governor and appears ok. Anybody have suggestions--the engines only 4 yr old!! Joe

injector gaskets

Check the little metal gaskets on the injectors. A lot of people have had trouble with them. Just replace them because they can look OK but a tiny leak will cause problems.

Back pressure from clogged mixing elbow?

Have you checked the mixing elbow, it could be clogged which might cause a stall due to back pressure. It could also be a valve problem, but I would think that you would see a stall under all conditions. Just some thoughts, the Seloc/Chilton book Seloc Yanmar Inboard Diesel (got it from Amazon.com for around 28 bucks) is a good reference manual and discusses many maintenance issues and does have some troubleshooting sections to help find what may be causing a problem.
