First time to change; looked in the manual, nothing; checked on the factory filter itself, solid grey no markings. Would prefer I have the replacement in hand before I go draining and disassembling. Can anyone advise me of a brand/# to use? Thanks, brian

All the parts are available.

Brian: You can get a spare oil filter from West Marine in a pinch. My preference is to use the OEM filter. There is a difference. Diesel Direct has all the parts available over the net. http://www.marinedieseldirect.com/yanmar/

I have a 2GM20F Yanmar in my 29.5. The Yanmar part number for the oil filter is 119660-35150.I got that off the marinedieseldirect.com website for Yanmar.

yanmar 2gm filter

the filter for my 2gm on my 29.5 translates to a Fram PH3593A filter. I don't believe that the OEM filter is any better-Yanmar doesn't make filters, they buy them painted to their spec! after years of racing cars, and taking apart filters, I've found Frams are first rate. Boat US carries this filter, but any good auto supply should also have it. Frequency of change is the most important factor, since small particles will eventually get thru a clogged filter

go figure, that's the same filter i use on my car!

unless I hear otherwise, I'm going for the simple route. Thanks, Brian

Baldwin Filters

I have found, through some research and a friend that is a yanmar mech. Baldwin filters have the lowest micron filtration of any filter on the market.
