Yanmar 2gm water leaking out of hole in engine

Hello

after starting my boat first time after a very hard winter -30celsius (it was stored outside) there are now water leaking out of the side of the engine from a hole a bit over the starter. Any ideas why there is a leak of water from here?

Certainly looks like a freeze plug. Probably saved you from bigger issues (cracked block) from freeze.

Was the engine winterized properly?

- 30c is pretty cold…how long was it sub zero?

I found my jug of -50F pink antifreeze pretty frozen on my boat last winter. It stayed “slushy”, so I guess that is enough to keep things from cracking.
