Yankee 38 hull #14
I've sailed my Yankee 38 in Western Long Island quite a bit. She is solid and over-built, and sails very well in windy and rough conditions. She does have excessive weather helm, which I am trying to figure out how to fix. And her rudder is a bit undersized, in that she turns slowly. I don't know if that's good for ocean passages and bad for round-the-buoys racing, or if it's just bad all around. I tend to reef the main first, then the headsails to counter the weather helm. I have a wierd hollow spot in my keel, and would love to talk to other Yankee 38 owners about particulars that I am curious about.
