Anyone know where to get parts for Yacht Specialties steering systems? Edson parts are not the same and Yacht Specialties has been out of buisness for at least ten years I've been told.

Ron, I'm in the same boat!

I've got a Yacht Specialties steering system too. Good luck finding replacement parts. I was looking to add a pedestal guard and Edson recomended the one to go with the 45 model. Edson was relatively helpful in making recomendations. Their catalog of parts is fairly comprehensive. Perhaps someone from Edson can do a Forum???

Pedestal Guards

I am going to be providing 12.5" guards for the Y/S wheels in the next weeks through the Sailboat Owners Web site. If you want one contact them and let them know that you are interested. These are made of 1/4" alum. plate with white powder coating. We may also be providing 9.5" mounts in the next couple of months if there is enough demand.

Check archives, "Guard" 5-17-2000. New old stock for guard and bracket. Those are the only parts available from him. Wheel and deal with the guy.

Cable replacement

I broke a cable right after they went out of business and at that time Edson had picked up a bunch of their inventory and I was able to get a replacement cable through Edson. They might not know they even have the stuff if people have come and gone, or possibly they sold it all. Anyway I would question Edson once more along those lines. If parts are not available you should think about other options than sinking money into an obsolete unit, maybe replace it with an Edson system? dave
