Looks useful and interesting. Good luck! We just had a weather seminar and spoke via Zoom with Cole Bauer, who was off Rio in 2nd place in the Global Solo Challenge race, being routed by our speaker. These sorts of sessions are very helpful.

Looks interesting and is a rare opportunity for this type of information. Another great bit of racing information can be found in Don Guillette's Sail Trim Guide, available right here on this site. There is a chapter on racing that most folks don't know is right there.

Hey guys, here's an update on the Yacht Racing 101 Seminar…

Session 1, “Your First Race” was held a little over a week ago and seemed to be a success. We had about twenty people show up; received plenty of positive feedback; and most importantly, added several several new racers to the fleet.

I expect more people this coming Saturday, since Session 2, Upping Your Game: is geared more toward new and seasoned racers (skippers and crew) wanting to sail faster and move up the fleet.

San Pedro-Sat. March 2 @ 10.00-11.30: Upping Your Game

We’ll cover four broad subjects: Teamwork; Boat Handling; Boat Speed; and basic Tactics/Strategy.

  • Team synergy is key to winning. We’ll lay out five ways to achieve it.
  • We’ll discuss how to tack more efficiently, set faster, jibe safer, and how to properly round the bottom mark.
  • We’ll detail driving and trim techniques for achieving max VMG as well as for Power, Speed, and Point modes.
  • We’ll present some great tips for getting good starts every time.
  • And finally, we’ll cover a few commonly encountered tactical situations.
Coffee and snacks will be provided by BucYC.

Hope to see you there.

An rsvp would be appreciated, but isn't necessary…
