I have some play in my rudder post that allows the rudder to change position slightly and move up and down. I have not detected any play between the tiller, rudder post, and rudder. That assembly seems rigid. I assume there are one or two bushings that support the rudder post in the post housing. The only access to this area appears to be from the top immediately below the connection to the tiller.

Has anyone had this apart or have any information on what the assembly looks like? Any key points for when I try to disassemble? (won't be until the fall) Not clear to me yet what keeps the rudder from dropping out for example.

thanks in advance
Ken

There are a couple of old posts 05-10-2010 and 10-08-2009 that may be of interest to you.

Thanks for the pointer. Maybe someone has a cross section of a typical assembly.
