Hi everyone,
My club has decided to inforce the"not so"new racing rules.
One of these rules I have trouble with is :displaying class sail number
My question,is there a register with sail numbers for Y25,would them be related to hull's serial number?
I would appreciate any information

PS other new rule is the bilge pump must not discharge into cockpit drain, but this is easily fixed by replacing the locker drain with a 1" skin fitting and connecting the bilge pump hose to this fitting.

You should have sail numbers on your mainsail and your spinnaker. Those numbers would have been issued by either a local sailing authority or by a national sailing authority such as US Sailing. Here is a link to the US Sailing web site. Contact them to see if your boat has been previously registered with them. You will need to provide them with your hull number and perhaps other documentation. If your boat has not been previously registered with them and if you have have run out of other options then US Sailing can issue you a new number. This registration number is permanent and stays with the boat even after it is sold: http://home.ussailing.org/

If you have a class boat (which you do) you may be able to have your class insignia and the production number of your boat on your sail. In all likelihood you will be racing under one of the handicapped rules such as PHRF and there is no real reason not to use a number issued by the national sailing authority except that it will have more digits. You can also talk to a local sail maker in your area. The good one's are usually very helpful.

Sail #'s

Good to hear from you. Never seen any registery on Y25's This forum is the closest thing to a club for Yamaha's I've found.
My boat came with lot's of sails --- Not one number relates to the hull #. Jnovie is on the right track - but I doubt US Sailing would assign you a # down your way. I suspect you'll be assigned a # by your club or a local governing body- I suppose you could request a matching Hull #...... that would be cool , I suggest the last 4 digits. That way we could start a registry!

Good to hear from you,too.
You'll be pleased to know you're not the only one to suggest a personalized #,eg,part of the hull #,people from state YA are saying, you may have it(if it is not taken),but pay $440 for the privilege,I'll go for the cheaper version(mine is taken),next available #,half price.

Salute,

WOOPs. Just realized that Furdui is in Australia therefore much of my post, particularly the US Sailing suggestion is irrelevant. Apologies for any confusion.

US Sailing Info

No confusion - excellent competition info for us in the States. One of the cool things about Yamaha Sailboats is they are found all around the Planet and we meet here!
There is a World of knowledge out there.

jnovie,no offence taken,it is o bit confusing,if one looks at the top left only it may be Hawaii's or even UK's flag!!!
Back to serious matters,my club allows me to have the hull's #(last three digits),209
My boat's initial commissioning papers, from 1978,show hull's # 100209,and I assume this(209) is the number of YA 25 Mk2 built from the beginning, not only year 1978,is it the same with your boats?
Has anybody wrote numbers on Dacron sails?what kind of ink is most suited for this job?

HULL & SAIL #'s

Furdui ,
My hull # is YAM +9 digits , last 3 are 277. My boat is also a 1978. Don't have a clue as to how they are assigned. Anyone out there have any Ideas/info?

I'd go to a sail maker for some adhesive #'s in your choice of decorator colors. They can be taken off (with lots of elbow grease) but at least it will be reversible if you chose to sell your sails. Much better than permanent marking. shouldn't cost much.
