Peggy, I am about to install a macerator so I can pumpout off shore in the Atlantic. I'm debating putting a Y valve in the existing outlet line to the deck or putting in a new outlet with an ordinary valve in the tank using one of those UNISEALs. Which method would you recommend? Also if I went with the new outlet, if I installed it in the top of the tank with a pipe inside going to near the bottom of the tank, would it be as affective as an outlet in the side near the bottom? Thanks Paul

I'd go with the second outlet..

'Cuz it eliminates the need to maintain a y-valve. And, if you have at least 5" clearance above the tank, I'd put it on the top...no flood when you have to pull the macerator to service it.
