Xantrex Freedom SW 2000

My SW 2000 has been installed about a year. Too much dock time, but several months cruising and it has been fine to date. Just noticed today that charger is not working, 4 Trojan t-105 batts dead. Nothing on but bilge pump. Some rain, but No leaks, No lighting strike, instruments ok, A/C ok, Cabin lights ok. Worked fine a week or ago.

Inverter works, 110 bypass works, no 12v. Flimsy little push button breakers on case all loose, rattle. Charger breaker not any different than inverter or bypass breaker.

Checking wiring as I can. 90+ temp lots of humidity, need to come into A/C drink icewater, and compute once in a while.

Anybody have any other thoughts?

Fuses

Hi Bill
Just 2 weeks ago my 2000 inverter acting up also no charging and no output to my outlets,my inverter charger output to AC panel for my outlets and Microwave and nothing working no output no inverting and no charging.
I found out that the inverter has 2 fuses inside on 2 different circuit boards so maybe check them and one is power so yours must be good so check other one and also has other fuses but that is what repair guy told me.
I took mine up to bradenton for repair.

Thanks Nick. E-mail me the name address of the guy in Bradenton when you get a chance. I'm out running errands and going to the vet this afternoon. Tomorrow, I 'll take the bo apart and check the internal fuses. Also emailed xantrex. if i'm still stumped by Monday, I'll look into the guy in bradenton.

See if you can take the cover off with out taking out of the boat and check the fuses which are the round clear kind 2 of them one is for the power on one circuit board and suppose to be another one on circuit board next to each other which I did not see and gave up and gave it to the repair guy who Xantrex said is the only SW Florida service guy.

Are your fuses inside the unit itself? My old Freedom 20 had fuses in the control panel. Now they are in the Link 2000. Any problems that I have ever had(12 years) have been one of those fuses. Fortunately the back of the control is very accessible in the starboard locker.

Remote Panel

Hi Ed
I unplugged the remote panel and uesd it without the remote which works OK but the inverter still not working properly and yes the fuses I am referring to are inside the unit which the repair guy told me about when I was at this shop and so took it home to replace the fuses on my own and still would not work so took it back to the shop and waiting.
I saw your inverter photo on here on another posting by you and very different than mine.

Re: Remote Panel

Strange to not need the remote panel. That is where my settings are located like Gel, AGM, etc. On the original panel there were dip switches. I replaced that panel with a Link 2000 and the settings are electronic. You can see it to the far right in the picture. I didn't think there was that much difference between the older Heart and the newer Xantrex.

On the web site under Marine series not freedom 20 but above freedom 20 on list is my model info.
The remote is used yes to setup the inverter/charger.
The repair guy just called me and will be ready with new updated circuit board replacement.

I take it back. may have been a 110v line surge or near by lightning strike. Breaker off in shore power pedestal, Mrs D says she didn't do it. Mild discoloration on white wire at a/c main breaker on boat.

No customer service at customerservice@xantrex.com. E-mail bounced. Didn't notice till too lateto call on Friday.

Years ago, I had a freedom 2000 non SW on another boat. Popped an internal fuse at a dock that was wired wrong. Gonna run the boat A/C and disassemble charger later today.

I always call first and they pickup quick and help.
Got the inverter back and they replaced a circuit board in photo $475.00 will install next week.

So Nick, those pigtails in the picture are unused on your boat? Those would be the connectors to the control panel that you do not use?

Is it a round see through clear glass,he told me there were 2 but that one and than another one on other side flat fuse 25a.
If the inverter lites up that fuse should be OK.

They are AC input and AC output to the AC panel to circuit breakers for outlets on the boat and microwave and on top are jack plug in for control panel at nav station and also temp sensor all installed at Hunter factory.

Batts fully charged overnight, Specific gravity good, See if they hold up till tomorrow. then load test them. Got my unit out ok. Set it on the nav station, spent the pm getting the cover off. Soft screw heads torqued in tight or glued in. Obvious they don't want the unwashed inside their machines., Wound up grinding tip off new #1 phillips so the blades would insert further. Had to groove one with a dremel. No obvious fuses or disconnects or burnt areas. Tired, sweat in my eyes and on my glasses. Back at it tomorrow.

I took mine up to bradenton for repair.

Took mine apart over the weekend. No fuses, nothing loose, no burn marks. Called the guy in Bradenton yesterday, took the unit in this morning. Guy called 1:30 pm. New circuit board on order under warantee.
