Does anyone have any knowledge about the compatability of the Linkpro to an older freedom 2000- or is it preferable to fit a link 2000- if you could find one?
Xantrex were notall that helpful telling me that the lonkpro will not interface at all with my Freedom 2000 ( model 80-2011)- that being said what am i better off fitting- i need a mor reliable electrical system on board and need to know where the system is at?

Two separate issues:

1. controlling a Freedom combined I/C

2. a battery monitor

You're right in that a Link 2000 does both.

My guess is that it would be hard to find one. Do you not have a remote panel to control your Freedom?

If you can't find a Link 1000 or 2000 (and yes, a Link 10 or 20, Link Pro or LinkLite will NOT control a Freedom) then don't bother with a Xantrex monitor, buy a Victron monitor - less expensive (you don't have to cobble together the wiring from the shunt) and easier to install.

Or check out the NASA Clipper BM-2 battery monitor... bigger display and shows all three, voltage, amps, and battery condition at once... also, will monitor second battery voltage... all less than Victron or Xantrex.

Sorry for the delay... Just back from the boat. Clipper BM-2 battery monitor face measures about 4 1/4" square. The cutout is 3 1/4" wide and 2 5/8" high. Nice large display unlike the Victron or Xantrex.
