x - okay so I recently was having a bad day and posted one of the dumbest questions I could ever ask on the forum. And then could not for the life of me find an option to completely 'delete' my original post.
I thought this option would be under 'edit' .. but no chance... hence the 'x'

C'mon. I'll give you a nice new shiny quarter if you'll rewrite your original question and post. I think you may be over rating the dumbness of your question.

After a day or so, the option to delete your post no longer exists.

PM @Dave the forum admin with your concern. I'm sure he'll take a look at it and advise you of your options.

Its the ones not asked that can really ruin your day. Some times you just don’t see the the most obvious because we’re blinded by the problem. Ask away!

Okay due to overwhelming interest I'll come clean.
My 'bad day' involved sitting on Pt side transom locker (Gas bottle side) trying to 'unscrew' the rubber catch tongue to clean up and re-align. Try though I might, they would not unscrew tho loose. And I wasn't sure if they were self tappers or nuts - nor was I sure how to get in to an apparently inaccessable area. So I posted the question. Turns out it was extremely accessable, simply by lifting my ass... and lifting the hatch lid. And there were my nuts! As you were everyone. - Mark Mac 'Malua'

It's heart warming stories like this one which keep me coming back to SBO year after year.

It seems this poor chap, @markymac1961 had lost his nuts while on his boat and then, quite literally out of thin air :

simply by lifting my ass... and lifting the hatch lid. And there were my nuts!
The power of hope knows no limits :p .

As an ex-IT admin, I've seen my share of stupid, but none so much so as my own, when it took me twenty minutes of troubleshooting to figure out the monitor wasn't broken, the computer was just unplugged because of the thunderstorm the night before.

The only redeeming part of that story was that I wasn't the one who unplugged it. That would have been entirely too possible.

A few years ago I upgraded the alternator to a high out put Balmar. When I fired up the engine to see how much power it was producing I was shocked to see it wasn't producing any power at all. I went back and checked the installation, the regulator and all of the connections. Still nothing. Took the alternator to the local alternator shop and they were puzzled as it sort of worked a little, but couldn't help me (later I learned that there are P type and N type alternators, the shop wasn't familiar with my alternator). So I packed up the alternator and sent to Balmar. They said was working fine, producing plenty of power and shipped it back.

I reinstalled the alternator and still nada, no power. All this while prepping for a trip the the Bahamas right after Covid. While pondering the situation, staring at the engine and getting desperate for an answer I noticed the alternator service disconnect switch was in the off position. With the flick of a switch, I suddenly and miraculously had a fully functioning alternator.:facepalm:

Cheers!
