On this fateful day in 1962, if not for the Fearless Crew, the S.S. Minnow would have been lost!:clap:

But the 3 hour tour lasted until 1967.
The Skipper and his "Little Buddy" made the Millionaire and his Wife, a Movie Star, the Professor and Mary Ann more comfortable...

I think there were three identical boats used in the series. One of them survives up here on our south west coast.

S. S. Minnow today[edit]
The S. S. Minnow used in the opening of the second and third season color episodes, previously named the Bluejacket, now resides at Schooner Cove Marina on the east side of Vancouver Island, in Nanoose Bay, British Columbia. Having put the boat through a major restoration, the new owner plans to use it for charters and sight seeing tours.[3] It is equipped with an old life preserver with "S. S. Minnow" on it, as well as other show items.[2]

I love this show but the original Pilot never aired (the one where they wrecked). It's available on DVD if you buy the first season and clips can be found on youtube. The pilot was a complete flop with people feeling that Ginger & Maryann were too ditsy and the song was missing its familiar melody. Here are a few youtube clips for those fans who always wanted to know how it started. Fun fact the whole show was filmed in a parking lot at CBS studios next to a freeway made to look like an island. No exotic locations for these actors.

The one refinished boat was at the YVR show a couple of years ago, and you could get pictures with Mary-Ann for something like $50 Cdn.

The theme song video in the first post is the version that was used in the later seasons. The first couple of seasons had slightly different wording. Instead of listing all the inhabitants of the island by name, the early version just said "and the rest" rather than list the professor & Mary Ann individually. Apparently, those two were not considered key rolls in the early days.

Extra points for anyone who can identify the harbor that the minnow set sail from.

I think the filming of the boat leaving the harbor in Hawaii was the same day President Kennedy was assassinated. Can't remember if I read that or saw it on one of the videos.

That's the first time I ever heard the Hispanic-accented theme song!

And that original blonde Mary Ann is hotter than the "real" one. MUCH hotter.

Jokes aside, I'm thinking Honolulu. Maybe Hickam Field or maybe Ft. Armstrong?
