I am re-doing the teak and holly sole in my '82 Cherubini 33'. The aluminum t-bar which was screwed to the cover of the bilge is a mess and I would like to replace it. Has anyone found a supplier for this piece, or come up with a good replacement material for the aluminum ?? thanks,

can't help with the aluminum but...

I'm curious what you're doing? Are you refinishing or replacing? I've got the identical boat except one year older (a 1981) and my sole is just about shot. I've been thinking about replacing with the Teak & Holly vinyl flooring from PlasTeak but haven't gotten to the decision stage yet.

I'm replacing

the old teak and holly sole with new 1/4" teak/holly marine plywood. Expensive but like the original. I was able to get the entire floor out of two (2) pieces of 4 X 8 (about $245/piece). My aluminum support piece that is screwed to the cover of the bilge is dented, scratched, discolored, and generally ugly. So, with the nice newly varnished wood floor, I would like a bright new aluminum piece. If I can find what I want,I'll be in business. Steve, I looked at the web site for the vinyl flooring, but just could not get excited over it. When I do decide to sell and move up to a larger boat, I believe the boat will sell faster with the teak than if I had a vinyl floor. (When I was looking for my Hunter, I visited and inspected at least 6 different Hunter's that were for sale before I bought my current one). I will admit there were different issues with each one I looked at. When you finally decide to do one or the other, it is not really much of a deal to pull the old sole up. I fretted a lot about that needlessly before I started. Good luck, Jeff

Extrusion or plywood substrate problem?

Are you sure the extrusion is shot, or is it the plywood to which it is fastened? If it is the plywood then you may be able to refurbish it with epoxy for the pulled screw holes and regluing any delamination in the plywood, failing this replace the 3/4" marine plywood. The teak and holly is just a thin veneer. The extrusion was loose when we got our 79 H33 some 8 years ago, the assembly was repaired in this way and has functioned with no more attention since.

teak n holly sole

I've played around with lots of ideas on this. I've got a 78 Hunter 30 and its due a new sole. All things considered and wanting something that looks professional and nice. I've decided although it will be a little more work but samples I've made turn out absolutely beautiful. I'm laying a base piece out of marine plywood that is soaked with apoxy to water proof. Then I'm buying the 3/8" hardwood at HD or Lowes the darker colored species that matches my solon and a few almost white species. I ripped the white ones into 1/4" stips and rip the darker species in half lengthwise. then glue the white strips evey 6 to 8 inches or so based on what you like in between the darker pieces. Finish with several heavy coats of poly and you've got a teal n holly look that is unbelievable. Really dresses up the solon.
