I am very glad to help. Nick was a very good family friend. He and my Dad were out there going head to head every Sunday. I am sure he would be happy that his boat has found a new home and a new life. Your children will enjoy learning to handle her and you will have fun sailng around the anchorages in her.

Amen brother! Had a vacation in St Croix last year and we loved the island so much that we decided to make it down there for some cruising some day in the not too distant future... May not be as sexy as the BVI's but I like the honesty of the place and the snorkeling/diving is amazing there!

This boat is not a Wood Pussy, that design was 13'6" and was originally built in wood, and later in fiberglass by many builders, she was popular in New Jersey for junior racing, but definitely bigger than your "new" boat. I've attached a picture for those that are not familiar with the Wood Pussy.
However, I'm glad to see that you finally found out the origins of that neat little 10' sailboat that you bought. I'm also glad to see that you have submitted the info to SailboatData.com since that was actually the first place that I looked while trying to help with an identification.

I Bought one of these little beauties from an estate sale in 1976 on Lake Hopatcong, NJ. I paid $50.00 complete with all sailing rig. She needed a paint job so I painted her dark midnight blue above the w/l and red below the w/l. I carried her on roof racks on my car to Round Valley Reservoir and sailed her on Lake Hopatcong. She was my first sailboat. Brought her with me over the years through many moves. In 2014 our son bought a Gulfstar 41 sailboat to live aboard and needed an appropriate tender. I offered to sell my Pelican to him for $50.00 which he accepted. As of today he is replacing the spars using the original bronze hardware and will repaint. We will post pictures of the finished job. Thanks for all the research and the pictures it has helped us in the restoration.
