Does anyone know of places in USA or Canada where MacGregors can be rented for a few days at a time?

John, I am sure that any dealer would take you out for a sea trial. I looked at the Macgregors when I was looking for my first boat and each dealer told me that I could arrange for a one hour motor and sail. Go to the Macgregor site and call your closest dealer and rearrange a sail. Don't just show up as this is a busy time for them.

You can try this one

I saw a 2005 Mac on American Marine & Sail's website....You can probably get a test sail and a good deal from a reputable, experienced dealer. 1310 Old U.S. 264 Hwy. Zebulon, NC 27597, USA Toll-free 866-373-4428 Tel 919 404 1550 Fax 919 404 1119

You don't say where in the world you are but

I am fairly certain that this dealer: http://www.newmillenniumsailboats.com/About.asp would take you out on a test ride. A friend of mine used to work for him setting up the new boats and taking clients out for test runs. Personally, I like the older M 26S as it is more of a sailboat and less of a power boat (no 50HP engine).

Go to the MacG website

Im sure if you asked, there will be lots that will gladly take you for a ride. Roger MacGregor continues to improve his boats. If you could afford it, I would get the newest one with the 50HP and spinnaker. I was out on Galveston Bay yesterday, winds were 15 to 20K in the afternoon. A new 26 MacGregor went by (reefed, like most everyone else)and seemed to not have anymore difficulty than anyone else and he was going quite fast. There is a new Mac for me in the distant future.
