worm

The same message with a worm that was mentioned by Thomas Hamill,
reached me from David Nettleship. My server also warned me and I
deleted it. It might have gone just to people with whom David was
in direct contact ... we had exchanged emails before. I told David
about this so he knows about it. There is not actually any message,
but the subject was about propeller shafts. David is no longer in
the vega email group, he shamefully bought a Hughes Columbia 31.

Maybe this is the source of the problem I've been experiencing..
Since I use a web-based email and do not download messages to my PC
I've not been affected directly but have received several "Ghost"
messages with no apparent content.

Chuck,

I got the email but was warned about it before it could do
anything to my system. I went to the AlbinCruisers List and checked the
messages there and the message was gone. Either Yahoo deleted it or the
other Moderator got to it before I did. I'll check with him tonight. I
was hoping that Yahoo had instituted virus protection for it's lists but
that doesn't appear to be the case if we are still getting them through the
general mailing.
Will let you know what I find out.

Although I'm no expert, my system reports that the copies of the worm I've
received come as attachments to email messages. The Albin Vega email group does
not permit attachments to email messages. So, it APPEARS that no one need be
concerned about receiving this worm through email from the group.

Yup, I just looked in my "Trash". The messgages I referred to appeared to come from the group because the subject read "Re:(AlbinVega)......." the addresses, though, were as you described, with the underscore as the first character. There was one from Yvonne Barnasconi and another from _dnnlundy@... (Sorry, can't connect the email address with a name just now). Now that I know what to look for I see several messages with the underscore in the return address. One from Henk Jansen on Nov 30 appears to be the first one I received with the latest being on Dec 3 from b.tobben@.... All of them have the "Re:(Albin Vega)..." in the subject so they appear to come from the group. Fortunately, as I said in my previous message, Netscape mail does not download messages to my PC so no virus for me d:^)
