I don't wish to get everyone too excited about this but On Fri, 30 Nov 2001
18:28:58 -0400 I received a message apparently from David Nettleship with the
foregoing subject. The message only contained an attachment which my antivirus
software identified as being infected with "W32.Badtrans.B@mm" The attachment
was identified as Content-Type: audio/x-wav; name="New_Napster_Site.MP3.pif"
Symantec's antivirus website,
Symantec - Global Leader In Next-Generation Cyber Security | Symantec...,
identifies the attachment as a new "worm". "W32.Badtrans.B@mm is a MAPI worm
that emails itself out using different file names. It also creates the file
\Windows\System\Kdll.dll. It uses functions from this file to log keystrokes."
David's message was sent directly to me, not to the Albin Vega Email List.
However, since the only connection that David and I have is the email list, I
wanted to warn the rest of you to be on the lookout for similar messages.
