I'm curious about this statement. I guess it could confirm some beliefs about shipbuilding of the time. It would be hard to disprove a modern misunderstanding. These ships were built one at a time and each seaport would likely have some unique approaches to construction. One sample does not make a good set of data points for broad knowledge.

That trip was over before it began. This was a nice find on craigalopalos's scroll. The couple that bought it was going to attempt a world trip around the med, but never made it out of the black sea.
