Working jip replacement

I need to replace Journeyman's working jib. I keep thinking there must be a popular class of racing boats with a similar size jib, and that I could buy a retired racing sail with plenty of life in it. Any suggestions?Nicholas H. Walsh P.A.

Catalina 25's have a similar rig dimension. Although they are not exactly a racing boat, there are plenty of them around. -Tim

That's what I use, though I got mine new from Cruising Sails Direct (now called North Sails Direct). They are (were?) reasonably priced as they make them up in multiples during the off months. Mine was from one of their lofts in the Caribbean, and was their best dacron cloth (at the time - 5 or 6 years ago). Haven't checked prices or availability recently, but it's been a good hank on sail for most medium/heavy wind conditions. Bill Bach V1071

For used sails, you may also want to log into bacon sails website.
They have like a wharehouse full of used sails.
On their website, you can enter your dimensions and it will show you what used sails they have that will fit. Some of them are racing.

What weight cloth for a Vega working jib, for our sometimes-blustery new England winds?Nicholas H. Walsh P.A.

I guess the one I have is actually 6 oz. Here's the link to the North Sails site with the 110% working sail. Mine came with the 5200 sailcloth for some reason, but that's good!

Price is pretty good at just over $500. Bill Bach V1071
