woody wax?

I need to bring the deck on my 85 Hunter 28.5 back to life. I used polyglow on my last boat with good results. Several people on this site recommended woody wax. what do people think of this product? It can also be put on the nonskid. does it reqally work and how long does it last?Jeff

I just tried it

I did it this past weekend on my Hunter 25.5.The owner before me did not take care of this boat. I finally got to the wash the deck. First with a pressure washer .. Careful around the areas where caulk is. Then I did as the directions said. The first coat looked like a bad tanning job. ( My boat is a 1984 cream color) Each coat got better. I did three coats. Now the boat looks brand new. I was very skeptic. Many products do not do any better than simple soap. I am very pleased with the outcome. It is suppose to last around 3 months. I figure that the next time will be simply spray on and wash with a deck brush and rinse with water after 20 mins.I am a believer now. Expensive to do with 3 coats, but I am not sure how else I would do the deck.. 90% of the deck is non-skid on a 25.5The best was when a boat owner walked over to it and asked if I just got the deck painted. There are two boats the same year as mine at the marina. Mine is now creme and theirs is caulky white. I enjoyed seeing the difference after each coat. Clif

Woody Wax is for the deck. PoliGlo is for the topsides (hull). I use them both and am very happy with them.

how about island girl

I just read a bunch about island girl. sounds interesting but more complicated than woody wax. Which to use on the deak and nonskid of my 28.5?Jeff

Clif, glad it looks good but check back in about 2 - 3 weeks and let us know if it still beads water. I'd say from my experience with the product is that it won't. Also, a problem I had with it was it ran down off the deck and stained the side of the hull creating a couple of dirty, sticky (wax) streaks that collect dirt. It seemed to last longer on the side of the boat collecting dirt than it did on the deck.
