Wooden Rib Replacement

I have recently acquired a 1964 oday mariner centerboard model and i have noticed that many of the wooden ribs under the floor are fairly rotted. Do these ribs serve a structural purpose or do they just hold the floor down? Do they all need replacing? and if so should i buy new ones or just make some?

The cockpit ribs aren't as important as the ones in the cabin, which provide structure against the "squeezing" of the chainplates. I laminated plywood with epoxy to make new ribs.
