This is about a Yamaha 25 Mkii

The two wood pillars, port and starboard side (inside the separation between the main area and the v-bert) need to be replaced because, somehow, humidity got into it and they rotten.
It's the pillars that have the big screws and bolts and metal plates.
Can we remove it without compromising the structure and put it later again? Or are they structural part of the rigging system and need to proceed with caution?

Thanks for the inputs

More than likely the damage was caused by leaking chainplates. (that would be extreme humidity) The wood that you want to replace is structural. The chainplates are attached to them and to a lesser extent they help support the deck. I would suggest that you unstep the mast before doing any work. The work can be done with the mast up as long as you can safely support it prior to disconnecting the standing rigging. Don't skimp on the type and quality of materials you use for replacement parts. Pay carful attention to the way things are tied into the hull and deck and at a minimum put it back together the same way. There's nothing wrong with improving construction methods. Some production boat manufacturers too short cuts to save a few bucks. Now would be the time to fix any you come across. When you're finished replacing the wood, make sure you do a good job of sealing the chainplates at the deck or you'll be doing this job again in a few years.

I think you could lash the shrouds to the toerails while you're fixing the bulkhead boards. All you have to do while the boat is on the hard is make sure the mast doesn't fall over. You will be retuning the rig after completing the repair.

Well... better leave it like that!!!... i'm not an expert in repair work... better leave it for professionals later on when needed to make more maintenance work...
For now i will just sand paper it...and apply some lacquer on it... hope it looks better than now...
thks for the replies people...
more questions coming in the next days while the work progress... :)
