Wither a gasket

When I pulled my raw water pump last fall for a winter rebuild, I don't recall that there was a gasket between it and the mounting surface on my 3-cyl Perkins M30 diesel. I've made one but am having second thoughts about it. Is it common for such a pump to be mounted without a gasket? If I reinstall it with a gasket, should I use some sort of a gasket sealant? How about the valve cover gasket: can it be reused or should I replace it each time the cover is pulled. ===Thanks

What pump do you have? Many engines can have different pumps. Try www.depcopump.com and find the parts and/or repair kits to find out.

If it is supposed to have a gasket there, you can easily use any gasket material (RTV etc.) to seal the joint.
