I am going to need to run some addition wires up in the pedestal. As i understand from looking in the archives this has to be done by removing the cover that is over the quarter berth. If there is any water in there does it drain down the rudder post tube? Any suggestions how to lower the cover without stressing it or causing any breakage? How much room is there in the pedestal? I need to run a 12volt pwer lead and another small cable in there for a supply video feed(Don't ask unless you really want to know) Thanks As Always Paul

I have a 1978 HC33 so your boat should not be that much different than mine. You should have an Edson or similiar pedistal. In order to add wires inside you need to do the following. 1..Remove the top of the pedistal, usually a compass is mounted on top. 2..Gain access through the stern of the boat, either thru the starboard lasserette panel or thru the panel at the quarter birth. 3..You should be able to see up thru the bottom of the pedistal, there should be 2 ea. pulleys mounted on the bottom. 4..With the help of a friend, feed a small string with a weight, or long rod down through the pedistal. 5..Tape the new wires to the line or rod and bring the line up with wires attached ensuring no binding or complications with existing wires or control cables. 6..Put everything back the way it was, probable a little sealant on the compass. On New Years Day I went sailing and it was late when we returned so i pulled out my laptop connect the GPS to it and started my Maptech program. It worked great depths were right on the money, markers were there. It was a pain in the A** trying to see the laptop in the cabin. So I decided to run an RS232 cable up the pedestal and have a 8" remote monitor there for such times as I need it. Besides when we are out on a sail I can tune in the ball game. Would be great to go sailing on Super Bowl sunday and still watch the game!
