So, how does one run a wire from the electrical panel to the masthead?!? No problem tracing the wires from the panel, down and around to behind the galley, but then they disappear into the nether regions of the cabin/deck structure. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!! 1979 C30, #1444

masthead wiring

Mine run through the bilge. They dissapear in the compression post area under the mast and come through a piece of PVC pipe through the mast boot, then up the mast through a piece of pvc piping to the lights. 1984 cat 30

Masthead Wiring

Hey Steve - I'm not sure if your mast is deck-stepped or keel stepped. But, on my Catalina 25 (deck-stepped), I did some major upgrades and found the same dilemma - wires that disappeared into the cabin / deck; totally unaccessible. What I did was run the wires inside the mast and exited at the base of the mast - then through the cabin top (yikes!) and ran the wire back to the panel via a discreet route - i.e., hide along bulkhead to compartment under settee, then back to panel. Good luck! Smooth sailing, Tom..................._/)

New harness through cabin top

I ran a new wiring harness through the port side of the mast base. This includes VHF coax and all new lights. This mast is deck stepped on a tabernacle. I have had no problems with leaks. A mast boot covers the wires that exit from the mast base. It works for me...
