Aloha, I'm replacing the bilge pump in my Catalina 310 that has two wires (brown and black) and a separate float switch that has two wires, both black. The new bilge has the float switch built in and has three wires, brown, white/brown and black. The switch on electrical panel has both automatic and manual positions. Any advice on how to wire this new pump is appreciated.

« If all else fails read the instructions ». However, brown should be positive for manual and white/brown postitve for automatic. Connect brown to manual (or your existing brown) brown & white to automatic and black to the negative bus. One of the two black wires going to the float switch was assuredly connected to automatic; you can connect this « live » wire to your white/brown.

You described the wires on the devices, I think, but not the wires that come to the bilge from the pump switch. Can you comment on those?

Also, can you look at the back of the pump switch?
