I have a very nosie mast. I Bought this boat a couple of months agon I guess the wires in the mast were not secured properly. Can anyone help. Very nerve racking. Thanks Mac S/V The Rose

Nylon wire ties

If you attach a light line to the wires so you can pull them out of the mast, you can put nylon wire ties around the wires. Put 3 every 10 feet. have them 120 degrees apart and don't cut the excess tail off the nylon tie. This will keep your mast wires from slapping the sides of the mast but won't interfere with halyards etc inside the mast. If you need more information, search the archives here. A great deal is discussed on this subject. Ward

Pipe insulation!

Hi, Looks like you're "just down the street!" This spring I had to do something about the noise too. The radar cable was slatting inside the mast. I didn't want to take the cable out so I fed 3/4 inch foam pipe insulation up the cable when the mast was still out. It worked! By the way, I also added some more wires and put the cable ties around them first before putting them back in. So far, no noise. Good luck Bruce Z

NEAT IDEA

This is a neat idea. I have had this problem for since I purchased my 79 Hunter. The problem shows up in the marina sitting in my slip when power boats rumble past with their wakes or somebody gets off or on the boat. Thanks for the hint.
