I have the same unit as Bowedtoothdoc above. Installed this past Spring, has worked great. I thought I had paid a bit less; you might want to look around if you want a deal.

Seadaddler,

When I was having problems with my fridge/freezer (and am still having problems believe to be low refrigerant) I purchased one that was not only wireless but recorded the max and min over the period of time until it is reset. This way I could tell not only the current temperature but also I would know if the temperature went above the recommended safe food temperature of 40°F for the fridge and 0°F for the freezer. All without ever opening the fridge/freeqer door. The one I have is Accutemp Wireless Weather Station purchased at Canadian Tire in Canada for about $12 and comes with one monitoring station but would accept up to 2.

Something like this will work fine.

I bought the Cheney like Bowedtoothdoc and Rich. I have a can of beans on the shelf over the microwave and stuck it to the bean can with the magnet. Didn't want to work well without the metal/magnet interaction. It shows high and low temps and is easy to reset. We highly recommend it.
