Wire deck pass through

I am thinking of running new wire though the deck. This is the wire for my anchor light and my steaming light. If I do this project I want to go ahead and run the VHF cable through as well (not installing cabin VHF yet and I don't have one). The VHF project is a future project and it won't happen this season. I think that if I am running wire through the deck for the mast I might as well add this so I don't have to open stuff up again when I do add it.

What would be the best way to run two duplex wires and a VHF cable through the deck?

I'd use a 4-pin deck connector, and a separate cable clam for the coaxial.

I am not sure if I have the room to do the separate cable clam. The reason is that I am trying to keep my wire run in the location that it is presently in. I haven't been able to look at the cabin roof since it has a liner and I am not sure how much access I have to it.

Currently I have a two pin deck connector. I am sure I could put a four pin connector there.

What size wire would you run up to a 4 pin connector? It may be tight in there where I put the wire run.

On the C27 I drilled a 1" hole in the mast basr plate and used a 4 pin connector for yhe anchor, steaming, ans deck lights. The plug is neatly tucked aeay in the mast, out of the weather.

attached is a pic of what i did ...drilled through the deck and glassed a standpipe in the mast base all the way through the deck to the inside of the head ...when covered up with the mast it is out of the weather

Regarding the coaxal cable for the VHF, as a former dealer, I use to put a two inch double ended female connector in place secured to the deck. I attached a top cover cap secured to the deck as it had a chain when disconnected to cover that top portion of the connector. I am not sure if Shakespear makes them or not but easy to screw into and remove without having to undo connectors, removing wire thru the deck and so forth. That was the best solution I found.

I used the thru deck fitting in the link below for two wires (anchor and steaming) and vhf coax. Freeze the plug and then drill the holes. The wires from the mast terminate at a terminal block below deck while the coax runs to the vhf unit. The coax was passed thru the plug before the terminal was attached. The coax has no intermediate connectors and this gives a better install.

The largest gauge that'll fit in the terminals.

.... I have plus a 2 prong plug that I'm not using but kept for a 'just in case' situation.
