I've recently moved my boat to a yard that does not handle winterizing. I've always placed antifreeze in bilge, freshwater tank and head myself, but have not winterized the engine. Can anyone tell me the technique or procedure for winterizing the coolant water intake for the engine (Westerbeke 10/10)and any other important engine info? Thanks!

Easy job

Close the raw water seacock and pull the hose off and insert into a 1 gallon jug of antifreeze (I use the purple stuff instead of pink for better protection)and start your engine, when the jug is empty shut the engine down. 1 gallon should be enough to get antifreeze coming out the exhaust, you might want to use 2 gallons just to make sure or have someone watch the exhaust for antifreeze. My Westerbeke 30 takes 1 gallon
