I have an H27 with a Yanmar 2GM engine. I plan on winterizing it myself. This will be the first time doing this. I understand the procedure but once I finish running the anti-freeze through the engine and reconnect the input water line back to the sea cock, do I leave the sea cock open or do I close it???

Thanks...I just want to make sure I do this right the first time......

I close the sea cock until the boat is hauled. I then open it and let drain, then grease it and close it for the winter.

For our Hunter 28.5, the Yanmar 2GM20f (freshwater cooled) takes about 3/4 gallon of -100 degree potable antifreeeze to winterize the engine, waterlift muffler and lines running thru the hot water heater; start by taking the intake hose off the closed seawater intake seacock. That insures that the strainer is protected. The head and water systems can be totally drained and/or partially filled with -60 degree potable antifreeze. I empty the water system and hot water heater and blow out the lines, but run about 1/2 gallon thru the head into the empty holding tank; then pour some down the intake hose to the closed seacock above the thru hull and down the pump out overboard discharge hose to that closed seacock and thru hull. Same with the galley sink seacock and thru hull.
After the boat is on the hard you can open those thru hull seacocks or not.
Sometake the impeller out of the seawater pump and leave it open over the winter.

Don't forget to change the oil and oil filter along with the primary and secondary fuel filters before adding the "pink stuff" into your cooling water system. Also, relax the alternator belt for the winter. That should get you through the cold weather just fine. Don't forget to empty your potable water system hoses and tank and winterize them too. If you have air conditioning run "pink" through the intake hose as sea water is still in the discharge line.
