Winterizing head and holding tanks

I just bought a Hunter26 and have been reading the articles about winterizing water systems and it seemed simple enough (yeh, right). I have a pressurized water system so i thought I'd drain as much water out of the bladder holding tank without running the pump dry. Well, I emptied the water, put in coolant but the pump would not shut off. I tried adding more water back to the tank thinking the switch didn't have enough pressure but the pump (Shurflow 2088) still didn't shut off. When I opened the taps I had pink coolant coming out but when I shut the taps off the pump was still running. Maybe I didn't drain all the air from the Lines? Shurflow told me conflicting things. They told me to adjust pressure switch and also to try just adding more water to the tank. Also, I drained the lines to the head. I shut off the seacock and flushed the head to the holding tank, which I'll have pumped out. Is there still supposed to be water in the toilet bowl. I tried dry flushing and I get a hissing noise from the Y valve. Is this normal?

Turn water pump off at the breaker

Or pull the fuse--whichever you have. The water pump comes on when it senses a drop in pressure, so when the tank is empty--or so low that the pump sucks air, the pump will run continuously trying to prime as long as there's power to it. No, there should not still be water in the toilet bowl. Read the article on winterizing plumbing in the Head Mistress Reference LIbrary.
