Sucks. Since we've put her on the cradle we haven't done a thing even remotely sailing related. Having a sailing season sucks.

hello all

I agree... I am having sailing withdrawls now... I can't even work on my boat... we have 3 inches of snow everywhere, and my boat is covered with a tarp... I have mane projects I want to do, but cannot because of the cold and snow now...

I think about sailing everyday, and want to be back out there...

sincerely

Three inches! I drag more than that into the kitchen after snow blowing for 2 hours.! I've got 22" sitting on my boat.

I actually enjoy the break for a few months. It give me time to think and plan spring upgrades and maintenance as well as do other things that would interfere with sailing.

Since I also live almost 3 hours from my boat it gives me a break from all the driving each week.

I hate the cold, but I agree that a winter break from the boat can be nice.

I have friends who relocated to Chicago from Miami and Los Angeles. Both moved here in the spring and did not understand the frenzy of summer activities until they went through their first Chicago winter.

I suspect that many of us in climates with a six month sailing season get as much use out of our boats as those who can sail all year long. We just cram it into half the year and savor every minute of it.

so many boat projects and so little time... we cant waste any just because the weather is not favorable.
you need to figure out how to tarp the boat so that you can still access it.... Where there is a will, there is a way!!!
I have mine tarped and I when i have time for a project, i turn the electric heater on and warm it up a few degrees....
cabin projects can last all winter without worry of it being too cold... and NO ONE can tell me they dont have an interior project they would like to do:D...

My boat is on the hook all winter every winter. Was on board two weekends ago and replaced the fuel filter assembly. Outside temp was in the mid twenties but the force 10 kept things warm enough. Am currently taking my longest stretch away which will probably be about six weeks. That's about as long as I can go before the bad dreams of loss or sinking start!

Well, I'll be heading out to the lake tomorrow to tarp our little boat and take care of some last minute items while the temps are still somewhat bearable.

Good to know I don't suffer alone! That said, I'm looking forward to our move the Pacific Northwest where we can actually sail all year if we're willing to put up with the cold air!

I don't have water tanks in place in my boat and the toilet and outboard are removed; so I don't have to winterize it. I am committed to the policy of NEVER winterizing the boat at all. How? --because I am sailing it to where I don't have to.

Sailing on temperate climates sucks. That's my catechism. :)

I work for Charter here in St Louis. Soon enough though, we'll be moving back to Washington and the Puget Sound!
