I have a H216 here in Ottawa that I protect over winter in the following way. I bought a regular boat cover from a store like Walmart. This fits the boat well and mainly serves to keep the boat clean while in storage. I built a small device that goes in the cockpit so that it tents the cover to avoid pooling of water snow and ice in that area ( you woul have to worry about the bow as well on a H170). On the H216 the mast sits on above the boat when stored on the trailer. I then place a large tarp over the mast on trailer which is tightly tied down and clipped at both ends to prevent snow from blowing in during the winter. This tarp must be tightly secured other wise winds will shred the tarp over the winter. I store my boat at my sailing club, but I could just as easily store it along side my house.Gary
