Hello all, Last weekend I was informed that my marina would NOT be hauling and storing boats this winter. As you all can understand I was thrilled that they waited until Oct 15th to inform me of this. Now I can't find anywhere to put my boat that is on City Island and out of the water. The boat is only a 22 footer. Anyone have any ideas - or yards that they can recommend? Also, I know some people keep their boat in the water in a slip. I really really don't want to take this step but may have to. Besides bilge pumps, what steps do I need to take if I find a slip? I know that I will be sweating bullets every time it snows. Any advise? I really hate to think of selling or even donating the boat but if it comes down to having to spend way too much on an Oday 22 I may do it, and besides, it will allow me to start saving for that bigger boat that this board has convinced me to buy. Thanks Andrew

It may be a strech for you, but the Cortlandt Yacht Club, on the Hudson (you will find it on the web) seems to be offering winter storage.

try NYSS.com - they're in New Rochelle close to you. Also - isnt't there a sailing center in city island? Are they the ones that informed you they're not hauling out?

Styvesant Yacht Club?

ALthough perhaps mis-spelled, have you tried Styvesant Yacht Club? Albeit some of my info is nearly 15 years old, I stayed there on a mooring last year and believe they still were able to haul boats. They are just north of City Island Yacht Club and from where the previous owner of my old Catalina 22 (bought in 90, sold in 92) kept it on land (bought it and trailered it from there in 1990). hope this helps..

thats them

The club that is not hauling is the sailing center on the east side of the island. The one closest to the bridge. I just found a spot in College Point Queens. Thanks all for the suggestions. I'll be giving someone an early deposit next season. And just a suggestion to all - avoid that sailing center, anyone that waits until mid october to inform its members that they are out of luck with winter storage isnt worth their salt.

I just got the same note!!!

I have called saeveral places, but all of them do not allow to paint the boats in their yards. I will try other links. Thanks
