We had a great time sailing Saturday. The wind was almost too much. The rail was near the water and the knotmeter said 8.2 every now and then but consistently was above 6 knots. With the wind out of the north we beam reached back and forth across Andrews Bay. My wife was so bundled up that she looked like the Michellin man. Sunday turned into too much wind. Even with a reef it was too much to be fun. Plus it was colder. The gusts would force us to round up and the pearson 323 in my hands needs a headsail and we were having trouble with the roller furling. We could have stayed out but after about 3 hours we called it a day. Anyone going outside in this type of weather?? Staying in the bay next to the north shore with a north wind there was almost no chop. But I was thinking about the open gulf and 6 foot waves. I am afraid that with the temperature and spray that it would be too much to enjoy. Even at Panama City the water is too cold for immersion!! Tom
