11:04 EST. N39*32 W76*17 It has just started snowing here. The forecast was for a 0400 start. Oh well, A long time coming means a long time here but I don't have to work Monday. Almost all of the ice from the Valentine's day storm is gone. A good book, a fire and a warm house makes for a good day. I think that I will just enjoy.

Japanese Magnolia might disagree

My Japanese magnolia has blooms on it. The buds on the bradford pear trees are about to bust open. It's almost 70 degrees today. Winter is fading fast if not gone already. A better sign is that I am going to run the weed eater around the foundation of the house today.

Good on Chuckie

Since groundhog Chuck saw his shadow, I'm hoping for the best and an early spring. The midwest is supposed to make it to the 40's by the end of the week. Looking forward to getting back on the water. Tom - If it was 70 degrees around here today, I'd be out there! Forget the weedeater.

I stand corrected...

The overgrown rodent DIDN'T see his shadow! We should be seeing better weather soon! Anyway, let's just hope for an early spring. Fair winds....

40 Degrees Here

Its 40 degrees here dropping to 29 tonight with snow or wintry mix, could get 4 to 7 inchs monday morning, doesn't sound too bad they always make it sound worst than what we really get. Maybe I should clean the dust off the snow blower and get the cross country skis and snow shoes out after all.

Had a Great day sailing yesterday

My wife and I had a great day sailing yesterday. I didn't even wear thermal underwear!!! It was about 65 anda lot of wind. We sailed all day with a reef in the main. By 3 it was about too rough and we were getting tired. We had a solid 4 hours of near hull speed sailing and buried the rail a couple of times. My wife even commented that it was the best ever. I would be up there today but my wife is taking a trip and had to leave this morning. Another sign of spring is that there seemed to be less birds at Wheeler lake. It might have been due to the higher winds. There were some unusual visitors to the lake. A flock of white pelicans!!! Wheeler is around 400 miles from the gulf. Gulls are common but that was my first pelican sighting on Wheeler. Man down below was a total mess...even all of the stuff in the stove fell out. We are going to have to get a system to keep stuff in it's place. No problems with the normal 15 degree heel . But rail in the water things start to fall out of place. I guess that we just sit stuff around in normal weather and don't stash it properly when the wind is up. You can get away with stuff on a lake that you can't in a larger body of water. That is the great thing about late winter and spring..lots of wind!!! By the time fair weather sailers get their keels wet the best winds of the year are over. Perfect is where the wind is high enough that you are thinking about putting in a reef but never do. Next best is one reef and a 110 jib and you are thinking about rolling up the jib.

Not that live in Perryville,Md.

I know the area well. You are right next to Tidewater Marina. You get snow there and my guess is your getting some today. Perryville,Md. is a nice place to live. Your are lucky!

Waffle, Perryville is across the river

from Tidewater. I live 15 mile inland to the west in Bel Air. High ground away from the humidity.
