Just thought I'd wish you all a warm and cozy winter as you prep your boats and outboards for the cold season. Down here (near Cancun) we are getting our Catalina 22 ready for her 6 month stay moored in the warm Caribbean. Bottom is painted, keel refinished, rigging checked and cleaned and oh yeah..the 8 hp Yamaha is ready to go. So, wish us well and we'll be thinking about you all. I know there must be a few brave souls who sail their Cat 22's during winter. Best to you too. Come on down sometime, there's 2 gringo families here with 22's. E- mail me if you're interested. rogter@puertomorelos.com.mx

Ha Ha Ha

Thanks for wishing everyone a warm and cozy winter and the invite to warm & sunny Cancun... We're freezing here in the Arizona desert with November temperatures down to a chilling 60+ degrees (10 degrees lower than normal) during the day :) Our sailing season is just getting started too... Great for us novices now that the majority of jet-skis and ski-boats are put away for the season and out of the way! Enjoy the Carribean sea- sounds much more exotic than an in-land lake. Maybe a caravan of zonies (Arizonans) will trailer their boats down your way sometime! Happy sailing!

I sail all year here in Puget Sound. Yea it gets cold but this is the time of year when we get our best winds. Fall through spring. Get out the fowelies, polar jackets boots and gloves and go for it. Dont forget the hot apple cider and a shot of rum. Arrr be Darrr.

Lake Pleasant, Dave

My boat's at Lake Pleasant, AZ, about 15 miles northwest of Phoenix. It's one of the best sailing lakes in AZ and the weather's about 70 sunny degrees here now. We have a great marina, and as for lakeside wildlife- wild burros (donkeys) are often seen and heard on the surrounding hillsides and occasionally a gila monster can be spotted on the cliffs (don't ever try to touch one of those!). It would be great to see some faces from this website out there over the winter! If anyone wants to get some warm desert sailing in this winter, or perhaps a stopover on the way down to (or up from) Mexico :) one incentive is that the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Volvo Leukemia Cup Regatta is being held at Lake Pleasant on Jan. 19-21st, in conjunction with the AZ Yacht Club's Birthday Regatta - so it'll be a big event, lots of sailors all together for a good cause as well as a good time. For more info, my e-mail address is "azlis@cs.com"....
