For many of you southern owners this qiestion will be of little interest but for us northerner's it carries more weight. I am looking for a design for a winter cover. More specifically does anyone have drawings, pictures or information on a suitable frame to hold a winter cover for a Morgan 382. How do you attach the frame to the boat? What is the frame built with? How high above the deck do you place the cover? Any information that wouold help in desdigning, building a cover would be appreciated. Larry

Winter Tenting of a 382

I hope to use my boom as my tarp frame. I am going to try and remove the lifelines (from the mast aft, and run the tarp from toerail to toerail. My boat will be in water storage in the northern Chesapeake Bay. Winter/water storage is new to me so I am also challenged by how well to winterize the engine and water systems. The marina recommends hauling the boat, opening, then plugging the thru-hulls, before putting the boat back in the water. I have sucked the raw water from above the thru-hull valves and will pour glycol into the hoses when I do a hard-freeze protection of the boat.

Winter Tenting for 38CC

I have a 38 Morgan Centercockpit that I purchased October 2004 and wintered in-water last season. I built a PVC pipe frame over the cockpit and covered with a hard material and then a tarp. This season I am pulling to go on the hard and will utilize my PVC pipe frame and extend to the bow and stern pulpits and shrink wrap over the frame and pulpits only. The frame comes down to within 3-4 inches of the deck and will be open at the bow and stern. The PVC pipe is all coded and takes 1-2 hours to assemble. I break it down and store in my garage. When assembled, I use nylon straps to hold the frame down to the hand rails. The shrink wrap is $120.00 a roll and I can get (2) seasons covering from it. When I get out of the water and covered I'll post a picture. If you want to see it in person, I'm in Rock Hall.
