Does anybody out there have or know where I could get either a template or dimensions for a winter cover? Time to protect my 23 year old treasure with more than tarps and twine.

Try Fairclough

Fairclough Sailmakers, who now mostly make and install boat cover, made one for our Legand 37.5 earlier this year. My partner and I installed it in just over 5 hours. The entire transaction was handled by phone. They measured a sister ship to develop the pattern for our cover. They have many patterns, but not one for the 37.5. They may have a pattern for a 37 cutter. Our cover fit fairly well. Next year, we may need to take tuck here and there and maybe change the lentghs of couple of zippers, but overall its works great.Their phone is 203-787-2322 in New Haven CT. They are not cheap. Shipping is about $150 to Michigan. I do not know if they can meet your time frame. You would need to ask them.

Yehudi, are you not able to measure your boat? The link below has a measuring section so that you can order from them. I have pretty good measurements at home but I would not want someone to buy an expensive cover based on my tape measure.How do you plan to improve on previous years? All that I think that we need to do is keep rain/snow out of the portlights and cockpit and off of the companionway.My H37C comes out on 10/24. She has always been covered with those heavy silver/black tarps. In previous years only to the toerail. This year I have a 20x40 and will cover over the rails. These last about four winters. Don't give up the tarp

A Philadelphia distributor sells Too-Tuff tarps that last 12-18 months. I cut one 10x15 and another 15x20 and use bungee cords to keep rain, birds, sun, dust off my 29.5 to great effect. Total cost around $30.

When attaching a cover...

Just a word of caution. Never tie down a boat cover to the jack stands. Although this may sound like an appropriate place to do so, the beating and flogging that occurs during the winter could loosen the jackstands and cause the boat to tip. Instead, set "belly straps" under the boat that run between the cover's grommets. Use as many as possible to hold the cover in place.

for the responses. After making sure to help someone else put on a custom cover this year I am having second thoughts about spending the big bucks when the tarps are workin' pretty good. I always store her stern-heavy for drainage and put screens over the scuppers...maybe I should apply this fastidious attitude towards other projects.
