Down home style
The Outer Banks of North Carolina HSA is just getting underway. This month we will have our first gathering at a restaurant in Greenville, NC that serves excellent down home style barbeque. This is the Down East variety. It is pork halves slow roasted over oak embers. When cooked to perfection, the meat is pulled from the bone, shredded and seasoned with apple vinegar, red pepper and a little salt. Served with hush puppies (that's deep fried corn bread ya'll), cole slaw, brunswich stew and boiled potatoes it is mouth watering good eatin' done Southern style. While we're eatin'we'll tell our lies, share stories and brag about our boats. Later on, we do a little association business and plan the seasons events. Our season starts as soon as the March winds start to blow. If your passing through on the ICW and spot a Hunter with her rags high on her stick, give her a hail. We'll be glad to see you and we'll want to know how ya'll doing. Perhaps we'll toss back a few cold ones and see where your travels have taken you. So, see ya'll around.
