wing keel strength in groundings

I am considering purchasing a newer C-30 with a winged keel and am curious about what owners' experience has been with them in groundings. I will be cruising in the Bahamas and expect to find the bottom here and there. What about the unprotected rudder in the same situation?ThanksDave

Go slow

We have a wing keel and the rudder is an obvious concern. While we are less apt to ground the consequences are more severe. It is our practice in shallow areas to procede slowly enough that we can stop in the keel to rudder distance if bottom is felt.
