Wing Keel coating damage

I have a Catalin MKII and it sat in shallow water for awhile waiting for a lift to be installed. While it rocked back and forth, it seems to have hit the bottom of the lake an worn a smal quarter size hole in the covering around the keel. Do I need to have this repaired right away? Will it cause damage between the keel and the hull?

Lastly, is this something I can repair myself when I pull the boat out for the winter? IF ican repair it, what procedure and material would I use?

you can patch it with some thickened epoxy
