I have a leak in one of the longer fixed windows. The water was running down the inside of the cabin liner (out of sight) and coming out into the settie below during hard driving rain. 2005 H306. There are 10 small screw holes along the outer edge (from exterior side)on both windows (port and starboard), but no screws, just empty holes. Looks like they had some sealant dobbed in them but weathered out and can see some daylight. Good news - easy find on the leak. Logic is that there was/is suppose to be some type of screw securing the window in addition to the sealant. I noticed the similar smaller fixed window has two small screws with cupped washer and rubber gasket. I installed a similar set up on the window in question through the 10 existing holes, however the look is definitely not the stock look. Was there suppose to be some kind of flush finish or trim on the exterior to cover screws? Or are the windows just set with the caulking/sealant only? If so, why the 10 screw holes? Any feedback would be great Thanks!

It probably was meant for screws which hunter would have installed with black coated screws unless the window had been removed at one time before you got the boat and someone forgot to put them back. THe leak may be from that or the sealant between the window and glass. Could not really tell from your description where the leak was exactly.

Stock?

Thanks Dave...I am wondering if anyone has a 306 or similar and can tell me what their fixed windows have from exterior...I can't find a stock picture or other info that indicates. I do believe someone tried to reseat the windows at some point even though newer boat. Roger

As FYI, Hunter indicates that yes indeed, the screw holes are not meant to be used, just filled with sealant. Reason for holes...to adhere window while sealant sets. After that, screws are removed and sealant applied to holes. Reason...windows tended to crack with screws in them.

Hunter Cust. Service Provided the Fix

My '93 Hunter 30T has windows that are fixed in place with a 3M sealant. Hunter marine supplied the instruction for replacing the window and name of the sealant to use. A phone call to them will get you a copy of how they installed them in the first place. Try their Parts Department @ 800 771 5556 X3015 ... They can refer you to the Cust Service guy. All of thses details are at the boat or I would tell you what the product is called. I bought it locally from a company that installs and seals a lot of windows in buildings. 3M web site provided the "Where to get it" contact. As I recall it is a messy job. The instructions mentioned "Holes" but there were none in mine. Hope this helps. BILLJ
