Ok so I know if you have a 356 you love the boat but not so the flimsy pop in and out [mostly out] bug screens. The ones on our 2002 356 are absolutely useless. Maybe they worked years ago, but not so now. So last summer on Lake MI, we either baked on those windless days or enjoyed a mosquito laden breeze via the open windows -sans the screen inserts.
Does anyone have info on a after market screen that efffectively replaces the OEM?
thanks,

I keep a screen spline tool handy in the tray by the saloon table.....I solved the storage problem of hatch screens. Found some small brass hinges at the local hard ware store. And now the screens are on hinges and can swing down to open or close hatch and then swing back up into place. When I first bought the 356 back in 2002 I install the roller shades on all hatches as well as overhead skylights in front of mast. A month or two later they came out with the roller shades with the roller screen combo. :cussing:

Ask Phil at the store here. He provided replacements for my boat.

Screens

I got the new Lewmar screens and been using them on this trip and they work grest and easy to install and stay inplace too,I think i called Defender and lewmar and the # on the instruction sheet is B5980 but I think lewmar gave me the # for ordering.
I have the older portlight just like the 356.

While we are talking about Screen Accessories.....

I got three sets of Lewmar's screen hinge kits, one for each of my large hatch screens. They work great! Hinges one side of the screens and tabs for the opposite side so two quick flips of the tabs and the screens hang down but are still attached to the frame. Easy install. Includes caps for where the other tabs will be remove.

Now aren't those a great idea !!!! Those screens are such a pain to install with the small swivel tabs. I'll certainly get them for next season. Thanks.

Hey Phil.... new idea for the SBO store ;)
