Hello again: I've discovered leaks in nearly all of the windows of the '82 C30 I just bought. Any tips on how to resolve this issue (apart from cementing over each window!) cheers Peter

Here is the fix

Peter - I had the same problem on my Catalina 30. Here is the fix: Step-by-step fix can be found here: http://www.catalina30.com/TechLib/LeakingWindows/leakingwindows.htm The window glazing you need can be bought here: http://www.catalinadirect.com/ Buy Butly Tape (google it online) - you will need about 2 rolls. Use it for the seal between the cabinb-top and aluminum frams. Use a high-grade clear silicon for the window to frame seal. I used the stuff GE makes and it worked fine. The project will take about a weekend and is well worth the time. I solved about 85% of my water leaks (still need to find the remaining 15%:)) Good luck!

Take your time

We did this project on our C-22 last spring. It is not the most fun that I ever had, but the end product was well worth it. We purchased the window refit kit from CD. I do not know if they sell the kit for a C-30 or not. As someone else said you can get what you need from other suppliers. Take your time , as this is NOT a fast project. I used a product called Goof-Off to remove the old caulk etc. This stuff is great. I am not sure what I would have done with out it. You can get it at Lowes and paint stores. Get the non spray type. It is strong stuff, and the spray puts it into the air and you will begin to meet new friends in a few moments! We were very pleased with the results, and now we have only a very small drop of water comming in with a hard rain. Also remember to tape the glass so you will not get sealeant on it. This is very improtant if you do not want to spend along time cleaning up. Good luck, and remember you only want to do this once. Dale

Windwalker...

wow, that website you referenced was great! That guy is a genious! Just kidding - that's my site. I plan on expanding the site after my March haulout. I like to show lots of pictures because I'm more of a visual learner myself. Stay tuned! Peter: Do the butyl tape thing first. If they still leak, then pull them out again and do the full fix. Don't pull apart the glass from the frame unless you are absolutely sure it leaks. I'm still having nightmares about the full fix. Cheers, Rob
