You don't have to buy a "windless" - just wait until you are finally ahead in a race, and you can get a "windless" for free...Sorry, couldn't resist.I'm sure many people here will be able to give you excellent advice regarding a windlass.MC
I had an electric Simpson-Lawrence installed in the anchor locker below deck. I had two foot or hand buttons installed for up and down directions. The only problem was that I had to install an extra stainless bolt near the gipsy to better guide the chain onto the gipsy as I let the anchor out. Simpson-Lawrence is in Bradenton, Florida. I'm very pleased with my windlass!
