Windless Question

Simple Question...What is the proper way to retreive the anchor with the windless.. I have about 20 feet of chain and 300 feet of line. I'm not sure if i can wind up the line on the winch until i get to the chain to slip into the gypsy.( i have a maxwell 800 with a foot switch)Thanks alotRobs/v You Be U

The proper way

Put the helm amidships. Put the anchor rode [line] on the capstan and wait until the swing of the ship has the line running fairly straight out over the roller. Then put your foot on the switch. Let the winch pull the ship through the water up to the anchor. Once the ship of over the anchor, let the winch pull the line/chain fairly tight straight up and down. Then take your foot off the switch and allow the ship's forward momentum to pull the anchor out of the bottom. when you feel it come free, bring in the chain and the anchor.
